2 in 8 days, US lost F-18, failed landing after taking refuge from Houthi group

U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet fell from the aircraft copyright USS Harry S Truman into the Red Sea after attempting to land on the ship's deck but failed. U.S. officials said the landing failed due to a malfunction of the cable system that helps slow the plane. The two pilots in the plane were able to eject in time and sustained only minor injuries. They were rescued by a U.S. Navy helicopter.

The incident comes just eight days after another F/A-18 fighter jet crashed from the same ship. In the first incident, the plane was being moved in a hangar but the crew lost control, causing the plane and its tow truck to sink into the sea, with the sailor suffering minor injuries.
